Sometimes, you really need a kick to get you writing. So, I have a challenge for you. My friend and I came up with this method, and it not only got both of us writing but was also really fun!
All you have to do is find a person you know who also likes to write and have one of you set a timer for 10 minutes. Both of you should start writing once the timer starts and after the 10 minutes are up, compare how many words each of you wrote. Then, if you want to, try it for 15 minutes, and then 20, and so on. I know this seems like it will get you nowhere, but surprisingly it does work. With each time you do this within the same time frame (we liked repeating the challenge for 10 minutes a few times), your word count should increase. The best part is that, if you're doing this right, the quality of your writing for your book will be consistent, but you will simply have more motivation to write.
How about this? Try a 10 minute challenge and enter your word count into the box below, or include it in your comment. In the next post, I'll give the results!
